Fun Activities at Reach Cambridge Summer Programme

We at Reach love Cambridge and its atmosphere with all our hearts, but we also believe that no summer school for international students should restrict itself to one city alone.

Scroll through below for information on some of our typical excursion-locations. And remember, individual classes often embark on mini-excursions of their own, so there are always plenty of opportunities to get out of the classroom, or out of Cambridge, to explore this land of tea, history, museums, theatre and more!

London

No English summer school is complete without a visit to the UK’s capital. In a city that dates back to the time of the Romans, there’s more to learn and see than we can ever absorb in a single day or weekend, but we cram in all we can.

Some of our favourite things to do in the city of Shakespeare, Florence Nightingale, and Churchill? Shopping, historical walking tours, sightseeing, visits to world-renowned museums like the Natural History Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Science Museum, boat trips on the Thames, and more.

Shakespeare

Every summer we make sure students have the chance to experience one of the Great Bard’s productions staged by some of the UK’s best actors and on its most historical stages. That usually means either the Globe Theatre in London, or one of the beautiful stages in Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford-Upon-Avon. We promise that you haven’t seen Shakespeare until you’ve seen it performed by classically trained British actors bringing his language to life. Each theatre trip includes a Reach-tailored introduction to the play beforehand too. So even if Shakespeare sometimes leaves you scratching your head, we’ll make sure you follow along and help point out some of the best jokes along the way (just ask our English teachers, Shakespeare is really the funniest playwright around!).

Ely, Punting, Scavenger Hunts, and More

There’s more to see and do in a Reach Cambridge summer school than we could ever just tell you about, but we ca guarantee you’ll never be bored. Check out student and supervisor blogs from past summers, like this one about punting on the Cam or this one about visiting beautiful Ely, to see what else we get up to on our quintessentially British summer school experience!
